The smarter series : Smarter snacking.

The t plus mission has always been to make healthy living accessible, fun and most importantly super tasty. We have created an industry first range of vitamin enriched wellness teas that make it easier to get the essential nutrients into your body when and where you need it most. However, we know that on the go, convenient ( and appealing ) nutrition is a wider issue in our daily lives, we get that there’s not enough hours in the day and sometimes life can feel as though it’s flying by before your eyes - we all know that feeling. So while you may have a box of t plus boost under your desk at work to replace those high sugar afternoon drink cravings, It’s so easy to pick up a bar of chocolate or full fat crisps to munch on whilst on the go out of sheer convenience without realising it. However, we know there’s a smarter way!

Taking a smarter approach when it comes to snacking can mean the difference between achieving your overall wellness goals, personal weight loss aims or general improvement of health.  We’ve teamed up with some awesome brands who’s mission is also to make snacking easier, more manageable and the best one out of them all – guilt free! Snacking doesn’t have to mean full fat, refined sugars and all the nasty unhealthy stuff, there’s tonnes of amazing products and brands out there that pledge to open up availability and appeal to healthy snacks. We’ve spoken to 3 of the best to hear their take on smarter snacking whether it be handy nutrient packed seeds, a healthy snack box delivered straight to your door or a 1 of your 5 a day packet of all natural fruit crisps. So read below for some exclusive info on all things snacking to hopefully give you some inspiration into ditching those chocolate bars.

Earlybird

At EarlyBird we noticed a huge disparity between healthy snacks that were expensive and hard to get hold of and unhealthy snacks that were cheap and readily available. To change this we decided to deliver weekly snack boxes straight to people’s homes containing four hand-picked snacks. We made sure all of our snacks were vegan, free from refined sugar, wheat and anything artificial. We created a balanced snacking experience with each pod made up from a range of elements: pairing delicious dairy free chocolate buttons, spirulina nibbles or creamy coconut truffle bites with highest quality nuts, seeds and dried fruits. This means each of our snacks is doing something for you nutritionally from being a source of fibre, protein or one of your five a day. We wanted our snacks to bring ingredients and flavours to people that they would never normally be able to realistically create themselves (like our sesame, ginger and tamari bites, wheatgrass kale chips and raw chocolate coated raisins) whilst still having all the goodness and naturalness as if they were created in their own home.  By doing all this, we are working towards a vision of making healthy, plant-based snacks available as easily and readily as a chocolate bar or a packet of crisps.

Punch Foods

At Punch Foods we make real food for real people. Our founder, Alexandra felt that there were a lot of ‘healthy’ snacks that as well as very often not offering much by way of nutrition also lacked flavour – and hence made the decision to try to add a bit of punch to the healthy snacking category. Our first snack Superseeds are deliciously flavoured seed mixes designed to fit everylifestyle. They come in five delicious flavours; Coconut Brownie, Cinnamon Spice, Chilli Smoke, Japanese Tamari and Maca Caramel. Incredibly versatile, Superseeds can be enjoyed both as a snack or for adding to meals and recipes. Superseeds are free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar and are suitable for vegans too. We refuse to use any additives, choosing instead to create products that are entirely made up of the finest organic ingredients.

Nims fruit crisps

We all know we should be eating our 5 a day when it comes to fruit and veg. And snacking on fruit and veg through the day is a great way of doing that. But carrying around fresh fruit with you wherever you go is not always practical. Even less so when it comes to veg - imagine what your colleagues would think if you turned up to work with a fresh courgette in your handbag?! Nim’s Fruit and Veg crisps are a healthy, tasty, snack bursting with flavour and conveniently packed to take out and about with you. The really great news is that each pack contains 1 of your 5 a day. They’re made from whole slices of fruit, thinly sliced and air-dried to retain maximum goodness. With nothing added, these crisps are 100% natural. They’re fat-free, gluten-free and dairy-free and are suitable for vegans and vegetarians as well as being Kosher certified - there’s never been a better way to eat your veg!
